In 1980, as a battle between the state and fundamentalist church schools was simmering, the pastor of a north Lincoln church decided to start a school for his parishioners. Church and educators called it Park West School and they found themselves in the middle of a fight that would take Pastor Carl Godwin to Washington, D.C., to the courthouse and into newspaper headlines.
